昨日，刚刚部分疏通的京藏高速再次大堵车，内蒙古境内堵车路段长达120公里。今年3月份以来，京藏高速公路频繁发生堵车现象。从8月14日开始，京藏高速公路进京方向出现堵车，堵车时间持续20多天。


Yesterday, Jingzang (Beijing – Tibet) Expressway that had recently startedsome  traffic movement was once again jammed up; the huge traffic jam had spanned 120 km along the part of the road in Inner Mongolia.  Starting with March this year, traffic jams had frequently occurred along the Jingzang Expressway; beginning with August 14th, trucks and lorries had been immobilized for more than 20 days traveling to Beijing.

作家谢朝平8月19日被陕西渭南警方从北京家中带走，理由是涉嫌“非法经营”。9月1日，谢朝平的律师接受采访时表示，目前谢朝平已被渭南市临渭区公安分局以涉嫌非法经营罪刑事拘留。


Writer Xie Chaoping was arrested from his home in Beijing by Weinan city police of Shaanxi province.  The official charge against him was that he had allegedly operated business without proper license.  On September 1st, Xie's attorney had stated in an interview with the media that Xie is currently being incarcerated at the Weinan city, Linwei district police office under the alleged crime of illegal business operation.

2008年10月11日，商务部等6部委联合下发紧急通知，必须将所有9月14日前生产的奶粉和液态奶，立即全部下架，停止销售，就地封存。然而，从2008年9月问题奶粉集中爆发至今，关于问题奶粉的回收、销毁等问题，质疑声从未间断。

On October 11th in 2008, Ministry of Commerce and 6 other government offices had announced a bulletin that required all milk formulas and dairy products manufactured before September 4th that year to be taken off store shelves, forbidden from selling to consumers, and are to be sealed on the spot until the stock can be handled by original manufacturers.  But since the outbreak of problematic milk formula all over China in September of 2008, the public had continued to question about how the recalled stock had then been handled and whether they are in fact destroyed afterward.

今起，北京市报刊亭暂缓各类手机号卡的销售。手机实名制今起实施，在营业厅、连锁卖场以及其他社会渠道，消费者购买手机号卡或者办理业务都必须持有效证件。


Starting today, all newspaper and magazine stands in Beijing have temporarily stopped sale of prepaid SIM cards.  Real-name registration for mobile users have started to take effect as of today (September 1st); this means that consumers buying new SIM cards at TSP (telecommunications service provider) offices, franchise stores, and any other retail channels would need to show their effective IDs with purchasing a new mobile phone numbers or signing up for new phone services.

In 1868, the 14th amendment to the American Constitution has passed legislation and was signed into law; the first article of the amendment had stated “those that are born in the US or are naturalized as US citizens are rightfully and lawfully citizens of the United States and in the states that they've taken up residence”.  Some 140 years or so later, a profitable industry has sprung up to help young couples in China get their babies born in the “Land of the Free” and become US citizens by their birthright.
